We are so grateful for your input into these decisions! We believe that we continue to walk the journey of building trust and transparency.
We received more than 240 electronic and paper survey responses from parishioners. A large percentage indicated that they could live with the proposed changes. This was a healthy indicator of the understanding of the needs of the community over personal preferences.
There were parishioners who raised community perspectives that were not included in the discussion for the proposed change. We are grateful for those who contributed to a fuller picture.
The points for consideration included: snow removal (both parish and city, especially for the older walkers); safety issues in winter concerning the dark; difficulty getting an ailing or special needs loved one to an earlier mass; the time constraints of ministers (cantors, instrumentalists, altar servers); travel times for members of the deaf community.
In light of these valuable community concerns, we have adjusted the previous proposal influenced by availability of liturgical ministers and to meet the needs of the more vulnerable members of our community. We are announcing the new Mass Schedule beginning the weekend of November 5 and 6.
Liturgical Ministers – We will send additional information to all of you regarding the adjusted schedule and your availability.
We are grateful for all the members of our community who will be making the sacrifice of their personal preferences for needs of all members of our parish. This entire process speaks to the depth and quality of community here. We approach the coming time with gratitude and joy for being able to celebrate the Eucharist in both our sacred spaces.
Thank you for your attention throughout this process as we strive to live our Community Covenant.
We go forth,
Parish Pastoral Council
