CATHOLIC
HIGH SCHOOLS
Bishop Leonard – Saint
Mary of the Mount Academy is a feeder school of
the following Catholic High Schools:
Bishop
Canevin High School
Bishop Canevin High School is a Catholic,
diocesan, co-educational, college-preparatory institution committed to
serving students of varied abilities and backgrounds.
We
participate in the total mission of the Catholic Church by proclaiming the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, and by creating a Christian environment of men and
women in service to others. We foster the spiritual growth of our students
by integrating them into a community where Catholic beliefs, values, and
morals are professed, taught, and experienced. We strive to form graduates
who will be outstanding moral and ethical leaders in the communities in
which they live, work and worship.
We challenge
students to strive for academic excellence, as critical thinkers and
effective communicators, while recognizing that each student is a valued
individual with unique abilities, insights and needs. We instill in
students the appreciation of education as a life-long endeavor.
We inspire
students to live life responsibly, guided by the precepts of Catholic
social teaching and seek to awaken in them an awareness of the injustices
in our global society. We challenge them to labor with and for others in
building a more just world.
We provide an
environment where students learn to make responsible choices which
demonstrate an awareness, appreciation and respect for the dignity and
sanctity of all life, particularly their own. We view our educational
mission as a cooperative venture with parents, alumni, local parishes and
the broader community.
Seton-La Salle High School
The personal
growth of each student as an individual and as a member of the Christian
community is the primary concern at Seton-La Salle Catholic High School.
Through
faithful teaching of the gospel, active participation in worship, dedicated
instruction in the academic disciplines, and the generous sharing of time
and talent, Seton-La Salle Catholic High School seeks to nurture and
incorporate into its very life the message revealed in Jesus Christ.
Central
Catholic High School
Since 1927 Central Catholic High School has been building a
proud tradition of excellence as a high school for young men. The school is
conducted by the Christian Brothers, diocesan clergy and dedicated laymen
and laywomen under the auspices of the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
The Central
Catholic community believes that we are called to provide a quality
Catholic education in a formal academic setting. In response to this call,
we share our faith by forming a Christian community committed to the Gospel
message of justice, concern, and respect. We believe that we fulfill our
mission by challenging each student to attain his individual potential and
by assisting each student in developing Christian values and the skills
necessary for responsible living in the present and future world.
Central Catholic High School is accredited by the
PA Department of Education and the Middle States Association of Colleges
and Secondary Schools. The U.S. Department of Education has recognized
Central Catholic as one of the nation's "outstanding secondary
schools."
Oakland Catholic High School
Oakland Catholic High School is a Catholic college
preparatory school for young women. Located in the educational heart of Pittsburgh, we serve an
ethnically, socio-economically, and geographically diverse student
population. To develop responsible, conscientious leaders, we create within
the OC community a Christ-centered environment in
which we encourage all young women to strive for academic excellence,
individual awareness, and spiritual formation. The Oakland Catholic
graduate will serve others as a Christian leader dedicated to social
justice and prepared to meet the challenges of a technological and global
society.
